A Good Health Mantra

|| लघुन्यासः || Laghunyāsaḥ ||

The mantra of Laghunyāsaḥ requests that the various elements of nature nourish the individual organs of the human systems. It is a health mantra often chanted for those who are ill, or for maintaining good health. The mantra also highlights that the goal of life is to recognise our connection with a higher force. It is from the Taittirīya-brāhmaṇa, kāṭhaka portion of the sacred Vedic texts. [Krishnamacharya Healing & Yoga Foundation (2012) Mantravalli: An Anthology of Sacred Chants. Media Garuda | KHYF.]

I learned this mantra during my Vedic Chant Teacher Training with Debby Badger and Radha Sundararajan in 2017. I find the repetition and the rhythm of the Sanskrit sounds of Laghunyāsaḥ calming and meditative to chant or listen to. The video below is an audio recording of me chanting Laghunyāsaḥ if you'd like to experience it's powers too. I would recommend getting comfortable in a seated or reclined position, making sure that your physical body is comfortable and supported. Feel free to either close your eyes or focus gently on the pictures in the video. Breathe gently and naturally and just let your ears receive the sounds of the mantra.

Thank you to my teachers and their teachers, गुरुवे नमः 🙏
